Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What Do i expect for the 1st Session?
It will be an iniitial assessment which allows an initial explore what led you to therapy, what goals you have for therapy or you hope to change in life. Generally involves discussing your expereince, understanidng your history, earlier experience, lifestyle factors and general health.
It also an opportunity to build a sense of comfort and trust in the therapuetic relationships and discussed how therapy may support you.
How Long and frequent are sessions?
Session Usually last 50 to 55 mins. longer session may required depends on needs.
Session are often started more frequently at the early stage (e.g.Weekly/fortnighly) and then reduced its frequency.
Real change takes time.
Someone may only required short term treatment (6 to 10 sessions). Most people require average 12 –
Do I need a referral?
You do not need a referral to see a clinical psychologist. Youcan atend sessions privately
if you want to Access Medicare Rebate, A Valid Referral and mental health care plan is necessary from your GP or psychiatrist. You may claim upto 10 sessions for calender year

Standard sessions usually require a Gap Fee,

Mental Health Care Plan – The current Medicare rebate for a 50-minute session with a clinical psychologist is $149.05 (from 1 July 2026)
Private Health INsurance – Many private health cover includes psychological services. Please check wiht your health fund for speicific details
NDIS (SElf managed or Plan Managed)
DVA – NO GAP
Can my faith be included in the therapy?
Client from a faith or belief background can feel comfortable shared at the client’s comfort. Many from a faith background find it beneficial to converse with someone from their faith background
Please be aware that clinicians adhere to a code of ethics requiring them to remain impartial and non-judgmental towards clients’ personal, spiritual, or moral beliefs. Regardless of your faith belief system, you can be assured that you will receive same high-quality service.
